The Effects of Caesalpinta Sappan Lignum on Anti-inflammatory, Antifebile and Analgesic Effects in Rats’ Carrageenan Arthritis

Abstract
|
|
|
Objectives: This study was designed to examine the effects of Caesalpinta Sappan Lignum on anti-inflammatory, antifebile, and analgesic effects in rats’ carrageenan arthritis.
Materials and Methods: 1. Caesalpinta Sappan Lignum was orally administered to rats with Carrageenan-induced arthritis and then the rate of increase and inhibition of paw edema, and WBC were measured.
2. Caesalpinta Sappan Lignum was orally administered to rats with sample group, and then recto-temperature and partialtemperature were measured.
3. Caesalpinta Sappan Lignum was orally administered to rats with sample group, and then time to begin writhe was measured.
Results: 1. In the sample group, the rate of increase of paw edema was significantly decreased as compared with that of control group.
2. In the sample group, recto-temperature was significantly decreased as compared with that of control group, but the partialtemperature was not decreased in the sample group as compared with that of control group significantly.
3. In the sample group, time to begin writhe was not decreased as compared with that of control group significantly.
Conclusions: These results suggest that Caesalpinta Sappan Lignum have a curative effect on anti-inflammatory effect in rats with Carrageenaninduced arthritis, but we have to study deep into antifebile and analgesic effects hereafter.
